Medical board reaches decision on accused pediatrician
Dr. Melvin Levine, pediatrician and author of A Mind at a Time, has agreed to never again practice medicine following a series of complaints and accusations that he molested patients. He will be allowed to continue to write and lecture.
...not that we are in competition or anything. :-) For once, I skimmed the NYT headlines first thing this morning, even before dh got to the basketball scores.
I do not know what to make of this story. The fact that he gave up the right to practice without a fight does not look good. On the other hand, I do know that people fabricate accusations. It's a sad story.
Little insight from my old journalism career: releasing bad news late on a Friday guarantees the smallest audience for the news. Saturday papers have the fewest readers. The timing suggests to me that they are trying to spare him additional public humiliation.
